Description

Spend 4 days learning different types of dyeing techniques from instant colour to longer processes. You will create unique fabrics which will then be used alongside some ready made hand dyed and natural fabric to experiment with colour theory, composition and layout. Stitching will be predominantly by hand, however there may be the opportunity to use the sewing machine as part of your work. Your textile pieces will be designed to compliment the fabrics and draw attention to the details created in the dyeing process.

Techniques covered will include: Rust dyeing, eco-printing, shibori dyeing with Procion dyes. Students can also choose to include some aspects of printmaking, cyanotypes, inclusion of found objects and more!

The day runs from 9.30am – 4.30pm and a light lunch is included. (food allergies must be advised when booking)

Materials are provided – please bring your choice of sketchbook (minimum of A5 size). If you would like to experiment on any specific fabrics you are welcome to bring them along as once the dye bath is ready there is always room for a little more!

Deposit is non-refundable. Remainder is due one month before start of course.
